Frequently asked questions
Short answers about work evidence records, CPD reflection, appraisal support, keyboard dictation, assisted refinement, folders, exports, and privacy.
What is a work evidence journal?
A work evidence journal helps you keep useful records of what you did, learned, solved, supported, or improved at work. CADE is built around that idea: keep the record first, then make it clearer when it matters.
How can CADE help with CPD?
CADE can help you record learning moments, practical work, decisions, feedback, training, and reflection points as they happen. Later, you can organise records into folders and export selected evidence for CPD or portfolio use.
Can I use CADE for professional appraisal?
Yes. CADE is useful for keeping examples you may need later for appraisal, review, promotion, or interview preparation. It does not decide what evidence is valid for your organisation, but it helps you keep and prepare your own records.
Can CADE help me prepare a revalidation portfolio?
CADE can help you keep reflected records that may support revalidation or professional registration work. You should still check the exact requirements of your regulator, employer, or professional body.
What kinds of work count as professional evidence?
Useful evidence can include decisions you made, problems you solved, feedback you received, incidents you learned from, teaching or supervision, quality improvement, research, audits, meetings, and examples of communication or leadership.
Does CADE record audio?
No. CADE does not record audio. You can type into CADE or use your phone keyboard's dictation feature. CADE receives the text that your keyboard creates.
How does keyboard dictation work?
Tap the microphone on your phone keyboard, speak naturally, then stop the keyboard mic. Your device turns your speech into text, and that text can be saved in CADE.
What does Make this clearer do?
It sends that record's text to CADE Refinement Service (CRS). If you added an occupation, that may also be sent as context. CRS may use third-party AI providers to process the text and return a reflected version. CADE shows a notice before your first refinement and asks you to agree before sending the text.
Does CADE write reflections for me?
CADE helps make your own record clearer. It is designed to stay close to the words and facts you provided, ask for more context when needed, and avoid inventing missing events, people, outcomes, or actions.
What is not sent when I use Make this clearer?
CADE does not send your name, email address, attachments, or other records for that refinement request. Only the current record text, plus occupation if you added one, may be sent.
What is a reflected record?
A reflected record is a more useful version of your original note. When there is enough detail, CADE can also organise it into practical reflection fields and map it to relevant professional competencies.
How do folders work?
Folders let you group records by purpose, such as CPD, portfolio, performance reviews, research, HCPC, RPA, or anything else that fits your work. If you do not choose a folder, the record stays saved as Unfiled.
Where are my records stored?
CADE is currently local-first. Records are stored on your device unless you choose to use assisted refinement or export/share records outside the app.
What can I export?
Export starts from What You Did. Filter or search the records you want, then create a PDF evidence portfolio, CSV evidence register, or Complete Bundle ZIP. PDF is designed for reading and review. CSV is for spreadsheets. Complete Bundle can include PDF, CSV, JSON record data, and available local attachment files from your device.
How do attachments work?
When you add gallery photos, camera photos, or files to a record, CADE copies them into local CADE storage on your device. This means the record can keep its supporting material even if the original file is moved elsewhere. Permanently deleting the record also removes CADE's local copies for that record.
How do I delete records?
Deleting a record moves it to the recycle bin first. You can restore it or permanently delete it later. Permanent deletion removes the record from the device and cannot be undone.
How do refine limits work?
CADE includes a small starter allowance for Make this clearer. Each successful refinement uses one unit, and this starter allowance does not reset monthly in the current free tier. If the limit is reached, you can still save, edit, delete, organise, attach files, search, export, and back up records; only Make this clearer is limited. You can request more refinements while CADE Pro is being prepared.
What is About You used for?
Name is used only inside the app for a personal touch. Occupation can be sent with a Make this clearer request so CADE can choose more appropriate professional wording without inventing details. Email is optional, unverified, and may be kept by CADE for future updates, backup, or account options. It is not currently used as your login, quota key, or billing account, and it is not sent to CRS for refinement.
