Frequently asked questions
Short answers about how Cade handles records, dictation, assisted refinement, collections, exports, and privacy.
What is Cade?
Cade is a local-first record keeping app. It helps you save rough notes about what you did, organise them by purpose, and turn useful notes into reflected records later.
Does Cade record audio?
No. Cade does not record audio. You can type into Cade or use your phone keyboard's dictation feature. Cade receives the text that your keyboard creates.
How does keyboard dictation work?
Tap the microphone on your phone keyboard, speak naturally, then stop the keyboard mic. Your device turns your speech into text, and that text can be saved in Cade.
What does Make this clearer do?
It sends the record text to Cade's refinement service so the note can be rewritten into a clearer reflected version. Cade works from the detail you provided and should not invent missing context.
What is a reflected record?
A reflected record is a more useful version of your original note. When there is enough detail, Cade can also organise it into practical fields such as situation, task, action, result, and reflection.
How do collections work?
Collections let you group records by purpose, such as CPD, portfolio, performance reviews, research, HCPC, RPA, or anything else that fits your work. If you do not choose a collection, the record stays saved as Unfiled.
Where are my records stored?
Cade is currently local-first. Records are stored on your device unless you choose to use assisted refinement or export/share records outside the app.
What can I export?
Export starts from What You Did. Filter or search the records you want, then export that visible set as a PDF portfolio or a ZIP bundle. The ZIP includes spreadsheet data, record data, and available local attachment files.
How do attachments work?
When you add gallery photos, camera photos, or files to a record, Cade copies them into local Cade storage on your device. Permanently deleting the record also removes Cade's local copies for that record.
How do I delete records?
Deleting a record moves it to the recycle bin first. You can restore it or permanently delete it later. Permanent deletion removes the record from the device and cannot be undone.
How do refine limits work?
Cade shows a monthly reflected-record counter in the app. Each successful Make this clearer action uses one unit. Cade may use an anonymous install ID to manage this limit, while saving, editing, deleting, and exporting records still work when the limit is reached.
What is About You used for?
Name is used only inside the app for a personal touch. Occupation or context can be sent with a Make this clearer request so Cade can choose more appropriate professional wording without inventing details.
